The MMM-Method©

Making Change ‘mmm’…

The MMM-Method© is a combination of three elements: Mindset, Movement and Meditation.

The intention behind this method is to create change in a HOLISTIC way by addressing different levels within ourselves:

BODY (Movement)
SPIRIT (Meditation)

Below a more detailed description of the 3 elements.

The quality of your mindset can determine the quality of your life. You may have heard about the Law of Attraction which states that ‘like attract like’ meaning in a simplified way that if your thoughts and energy are positive, you will attract positive circumstances and experiences.

Many of us however grow up the opposite way. We believe that we need to push or force ourselves in order to get things done or change (you can read more about this in my blog article about moving from Inner Critic to Inner Cheerleader in 7 Songs). We might even approach spiritual growth as a way to ‘fix’ ourselves, and there is a whole industry with books about ‘self-improvement’ (what’s in a name?) supporting that endeavour.

But what if we turned the approach around and focus on everything that’s right about us and our lives? Focusing on what we would like to create instead of eliminate, our dreams instead of our doubts? By combining conscious practices in combination with clearing outdated belief systems, it is as though we clean out the room in our minds to make space so that we are able to decorate it in a way that we really want.

This part of the process is all about connecting with your essence, the unchanging part of you- who you are underneath all of the layers you may be presenting to the world.

The more you tune in to this part of yourself, the closer you become to the voice inside of you that has insight into your life, your intuition, which you may not always be aware of during the distractions of your daily doings.  That’s why I also like to call it ME-DICTATION.

Another wordplay that describes meditation is: medication. Because when we meditate and connect to the core of who we are, we slowly start to land at a peaceful place inside of us and the stress slips away. According to this quote by the alternative physician Dr. Ben Johnson: “we’ve got thousand different diagnoses and diseases out there. They´re just the weak link. They´re all the result of one thing: stress.” So if stress lies at the root of many dis-eases, we can actually see meditation as an effective prevention of illness!

There is a wide variety of ways to meditate and it is all about finding a way that works for you. When we work together, you will notice that the meditations that I personally like to make use of are especially Mindfulness and Guided Visualisations.

You may have heard it before, the saying: ‘Go with the Flow’. There is a wide variety of meanings to the concept of flow, such as the scientific definition by the unpronouncable Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi in the field of positive psychology.

But what I like to refer to as flow is simply the feeling that life is unfolding as it is meant to: you encounter the right people, places and experiences at the right time. Basically not struggling against, but flowing along with the river of life.

What does this have to do with movement? Well…

Just as a river needs to be in constant movement to flow freely, so do we. Not just because we are made of about 70% of water, but also our life energy can be compared to a river that if it flows freely through our body, our ‘creative juices are flowing’. Literally.

And just as a river can become stagnant or stuck when too much debris accumulates, our lives and we ourselves can become stuck and stagnant too.

One of the most simple ways to get our inner river flowing again, is by literally moving our bodies.

As our life energy moves freely throughout our body again, we may start moving in other areas of our lives as well. We may get an insight that gets us back into the flow. We may stretch our bodies and be inspired to stretch ourselves beyond our comfort zone. We may release tension and stress that had been creating blockages in our inner river. We may let go of emotions that we weren’t aware of as we were going through the motions. Or as Tony Robbins says: ‘motion creates emotion’. Time for a dance break?
